First off, thank God for all the nurses who put their lives on the line. I would like to take this time to recognize a nurse for his exceptional work. Harley Cruz went above and beyond taking care of a patient. The patient was bilingual and came in for shortness of breath. This patient was infested with lice and most staff members would be afraid of being contaminated. While other nurses did not want to interact with the patient, this nurse was eager to assist the patient. Harley cleaned the patient because he could see lice crawling on him. The patient coded and the nurse administered CPR. After the code, Harley stayed in the room to do everything possible to keep the patient alive. He did not judge the patient based on how he looked and took care of the patient whole-heartedly. This is what nursing is about. Harley spent 9 out of 12 hours catering to this patient without a break and did not complain once. Not all nurses can do what this nurse did. Harley stands out and is a great example of a great nurse.
