I have been in this hospital multiple times over the years. I have had good experiences along with bad. This admission will stand out to me the most just for this one nurse alone. Hank Dalley has gone above and beyond in my eyes to make sure that I am happy and comfortable. I have a lot of emotional problems and trying to deal with my diagnosis is not the easiest, but Hank sure makes it as easy as possible. The reason I think he is not just a good nurse and takes that step above is because I see the care in his eyes and his smile. He loves his job and truly cares how his patients are feeling. He doesn't just give them what they need and walk.
Through my first night stay, he came in my room several times to check on me as I cried a lot. I was scared and nervous and he helped take all the fears away. One little thing he did that really meant a lot to me was bring me his own personal charger for my phone. I didn't ask for it, he just knew. He left the charger in my room all night and then, when he returned for his next shift the following evening, he walked right in to check on me with that big smile. He even brought his charger again.
It makes me smile so big because it really is the little things. He has listened to every tear, every complaint, and every honor I gave him. That is why I believe he deserves the DAISY Award. And, even if he doesn't get it from the hospital, he got it from me!
