Haley became this gentleman's family throughout his entire stay up until his very last breath. Haley did not leave his side. She held his hand and FaceTimed his niece as he peacefully left this earth.
It is no secret that 2020 has been a very trying year for all individuals, especially health care workers. Haley has been an Associate within our facility for a while now, but just recently graduated with her nursing degree. Watching Haley transition from patient care tech to a registered nurse has been a very uplifting experience. She is loyal, compassionate, such a hard and dedicated worker and a true advocate for her patients. Haley has been very gracious and taken on our COVID-19 Unit like a champ. Recently, I sat on the sidelines and watched Haley care for a very kind gentleman throughout his stay. It was this very experience that I knew Haley found her calling. This sweet soul had unfortunately been one of our patients in our COVID Unit. As many know, these patients are not allowed visitors. Haley became this gentleman's family throughout his entire stay up until his very last breath. Haley did not leave his side. She held his hand and FaceTimed his niece as he peacefully left this earth. He was never alone. Haley left such an impact on the hearts of this kind man's family that his niece drove over an hour away just to meet and hug Haley after his death. The impact was so large that Haley was acknowledged in the gentleman's obituary. His obituary stated - "A special thanks to Haley Brown at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for her care and compassion." Haley, you have been given a gift to bless the lives of those around you. Be proud and continue being the excellent nurse you are.
