Hadia was chosen by a patient and his wife, to be one of his primary nurses. The patient sustained a devastating, live-changing injury and could not move or talk. He had been unable to see his 3-year-old daughter. Hadia spent many hours in his room taking care of his needs and noticed he appeared to be depressed. She discovered that his young daughter was going to turn four years old and he would not be able to spend time with her. Hadia sought out her leadership and came up with the idea to throw a birthday party in his SICU room. Hadia made cupcakes with baby blue icing and purchased the little girl a My Little Pony.
Some of the other nurses bought a stuffed animal, "Frozen" plates, streamers, and balloons. Hadia prepared her patient for the big day. She could tell he was very excited, and nervous. The child arrived and was very surprised by her party. She had a room decorated, presents, and cake just as if she were at home. The patient's spirits definitely lifted. Hadia took the time to talk and communicate with her patient and brought more joy to him in that one day than anyone can imagine.
Hadia has an infectious smile and is often requested by patients and their families to be one of their primary nurses. She has always gone above and beyond for her patients.
