Gracie is one of the hardest working nurses I have had the pleasure of working with.
Gracie was nominated by her entire staff for her work as a compassionate leader during COVID-19. DAISY Awards recognize many extraordinary nursing actions, however, there are times when a nominee just truly rises above. Gracie Brown-Shanks did just that. Her outstanding actions, personality, and compassion for her pediatric patients and as a charge nurse in the ACC was recognized through 14 different nominations all coming from colleagues! We couldn't just choose one to share so we featured all of her nominations below to showcase the immense amount of impact she has had on others throughout her time here with us:
Gracie is one of the hardest working nurses I have had the pleasure of working with, exceptional care to her patients, families, and staff, always lending a helping hand and helping the clinic run smoothly.

I am blessed to work with such an amazing person, hard-working and compassionate. She always advocates for the patients, ensures that her staff have the suppliesthey need. She will always lend a helping hand to her coworkers.
***
Gracie has worked so hard to keep the ACC running smoothly, especially during COVID. Staffing, establishing testing, telemedicine have all been her responsibility, and the staff is her number one concern. We love Gracie!
***
Gracie is always an advocate for her staff and patients. She keeps all clinics organized and running smoothly. She works endless hours on the schedule, so we all are organized daily. She is the best charge nurse I have ever worked with.
***
Gracie has gone above and beyond to ensure staff and families are well taken care of; she leads by example and is willing to step in to help out at any time. She listens and is always caring toward everyone's needs. During COVID-19, she has had to be a leader in different roles and has exceeded those duties. She has not once complained and always goes with the flow. Gracie is one of the hardest working charge nurses I have ever worked with and makes coming to work at CG fun!

When other than a pandemic can you see the importance of a charge nurse who truly knows and cares about her staff. She is the epitome of what a team leader and charge nurse are meant to be. Gracie knows and understands the strengths and weaknesses of her staff and truly cares about each and every staff member. She focuses on the tasks and needs at hand and will assist in any way. She can do anything! She never picks and chooses what she will or won't do. She does it all and never loses sight of keeping the patients and their family's needs first and foremost. We know Gracie is always there to support us if needed. I can't thank Gracie enough for all she has done for her staff during the past several months. Gracie motivates us on a daily basis with her actions, her words, and her strengths.

Gracie shows compassion and grace (as her name indicates) every day but has shown the true spirit of CG during this pandemic. She is amazing!
***
Gracie is such a team player and is always jumping in to help in every clinic, she is constantly checking on her staff and the clinic patients. She exemplifies exceptional service and patient care. Additionally, she has done an amazing job during COVID, managing staffing.
***
Gracie has gone above and beyond as a charge nurse, when things have been put on her plate, she makes sure her staff, patients, and families get all they need. She is thoughtful and considerate, works endless hours to make sure things run smoothly, all while having a positive outlook. She demonstrates superior leadership skills and helps to keep us motivated to work just as she does! This place would not be running and succeeding without her!
***
Gracie is a phenomenal charge nurse and leader. She has always been there for us as nurses and provides exceptional patient care! She is always willing to drop whatever she is doing to lend a helping hand.
***
Gracie is the glue that holds the ACC together. She is a wonderful leader and the best advocate for her staff and patients. I don't know what the ACC would do without her.
***
Gracie has been awesome during COVID-19, juggling staff, making sure we all know where we are assigned, and working with reduced staff. Plus, she will assist wherever needed. She has worked extra-long hours during this time as well.
***
Gracie is one of the hardest working nurses. She is someone who will step-up and advocate for not only patients and families, but she is also an advocate for the nurses in the ACC and helps without even asking. I think she goes well above what is expected of a charge nurse. Even when there are 300+ patients in clinics, she tries hard to keep everyone happy. She truly cares for the staff in the ACC, and it shows every day. Gracie, thank you for being the leader, advocate, educator, and motivator you are. You are awesome and we completely appreciate all your hard work.
***
Gracie always does what is expected and more, she is strong and resilient. She is always there ready to help in any way, what would we do without our Gracie?

Congratulations on your award, Gracie! We are so lucky to have you.
