Grace has been my nurse several times, and her empathy, compassion, and continuity of care are incredible. Grace takes the time to listen to what I have to say, no matter what. Sometimes it's about how I'm feeling and other times it's about how much I miss my kids while I'm here, etc. One day when my kids were leaving, they wanted me to walk them through the doors to exit the unit. They both wanted to hold my hand, and my mom was pushing the stroller, so there was nobody to push my IV pole. Grace, being the kind and caring nurse she is, pushed my IV pole so that my 2 and 3-year-old sons could both hold their mommy's hand while walking out. After saying goodbye, I couldn't help but cry. Grace was right there next to me to give me a big hug and comfort me when I needed it the most.
She always shows an incredible amount of empathy. During my assessment, she noticed how much pain I was in and made sure that they were not only gentle but also got me pain medicine right away. When Grace had to do something that they knew would cause me discomfort, she would warn me that it was going to be a little painful, and also apologized for causing pain. Grace manages her time very well. It's apparent that Grace does so because she is always in my room at the exact time that my medications are due.
I have also seen her helping coworkers. Whether it is getting something another nurse needs or helping another patient because his/her nurse is busy. Grace is an absolute blessing to this floor and this hospital in general.
