Gorjana speaks Serbian. During work, she walked by a patient room and heard a woman speaking her language and crying. Gorjana was not assigned to care for this patient this day, but took it upon herself to walk into the room and communicate with this patient. During this conversation, she was able to help understand this patient's fear and gain knowledge regarding what this patient needed and why she was so fearful. She took the time to sit at the bedside and hold the patient's hand, allowing this patient to be heard in her own language. Because of Gorjana's team approach to nursing, stepping into an uncomfortable situation, and clinical skill, she was able to help get what was needed for this patient and improve her stay.
