Goldie Bates came to my son's room in angel wings disguised in the form of a human body. Her compassion for her patient as well as his family members was remarkable. She was very explicit in her delivery of directions for my son, explaining procedures, being careful not to exceed her area of expertise. When necessary, she would refer appropriate questions to my son's physician, while attempting to calmly answer most of our nervous queries. Had I not known better, I would assure you that my son's room was the only room on that floor requiring nursing services!

Goldie responded very quickly when the nurses' station was called by my son. Equally as important, it was very apparent that she did everything within her ability to keep my son's pain to a minimal level.

Her directions at the time of discharge were very precise in making sure that my son and his family members were fully aware of their responsibilities upon his departure. In essence, Ms. Bates became a temporary family member, or so it seemed, during my son's hospital stay!

Goldie is a credit to your institution and her nursing field, and she has this family's highest support for this nomination!
