Glenda's role in the ED is often as the charge nurse. She runs the floor with ease and confidence. She works hard and expects those around her to do the same. When you work with her you feel supported and she instills in her colleagues the desire to work hard and as a team. As a patient you would feel very fortunate to have Glenda be your nurse. She is calm, intelligent, organized and makes you feel as if you are her only patient. You are safe in her hands. Glenda is kind and gentle, listens well and cares actively.

Glenda is an active member of the shared leadership team. When she puts her name to a project it is guaranteed to get done and done well. She recently completed a beautiful family tree in our staff lounge which is to honor our colleagues. She cares for everyone equally, her patients, her peers, her department, and her campus. She does this while also caring for her family. Glenda gives her all to everything she does and goes above and beyond in all things. She is always cheerful and always helpful.

She casts her net broadly in who and how she provides care and yet doesn't miss any of the small things like her patients altered HR, or irregular rhythm. She has led so many Code STEMI's in the ED, she is an absolute expert. EKG's get done faster, ASA and beta blockers on board quicker, even report is better. Another example of her not missing the small things is her recently taking on the role of providing toys and trinkets for the pediatric population we care for in the ED. She reminds us daily the importance of reaching out and lending a helping hand, recognizing the positive attributes of our colleagues and is constantly thinking of new ways to improve on employee and patient satisfaction.

Glenda challenges herself to keep up to date on policies and procedures and educates staff so that we can continue to provide excellent and safe care to our patients. An excellent leader is a person whom you want to follow and mirror, someone who guides, protects and provides. Glenda is this person.
