My family and I are so grateful to this nurse for the extraordinary care she provided to my father during his stay in Bridgeport Hospital, as well as the support she provided to all of us. My father came into the hospital in very serious pain that was difficult to manage for several days. Because of the pain, he was irritable and impatient. He was definitely not at his best, and neither were we. Felicia treated him with such compassion and respect, even when I am sure that he was trying her patience. She explained everything she did thoroughly and thoughtfully. We never felt rushed by her, even when we had many questions and when I am sure she had other patients who needed her too. At one point, technicians had come to get my father to take him for a test. I had some reservations and questions about the test. Even though I was holding everyone up with my concerns, Felicia assured me that my questions were important and she answered the ones she was able to. Then she went and got answers to the ones that required a doctor's input. That story really sums up our experience with Felicia. She always listened and always made sure that we understood what was going on. We felt like she genuinely cared about my dad too. It would have been easy to just see him as a cantankerous old man in the circumstances we were in, but she got to know him and his real personality so quickly. They were joking and laughing together almost right from the start. I think that was so important to the improvement we saw in him. She was his nurse all of the days that she was working during his stay. When we knew she was working, we felt we could breathe a bit easier, and felt comfortable taking some time to tend to things we needed to do outside of the hospital. We really appreciated the continuity of her care during his stay, as well as the kindness and compassion she showed to my dad throughout.
