It is with great pleasure to nominate Ms. Fawzia Abdulmajid Al Khamis, for the DAISY Award for her extraordinary performance in our unit. There was a time wherein one staff refused to accompany her patient to another hospital and walked out of the unit. I was having difficulty looking for somebody to be with the patient. Ms. Fawzia willingly volunteered to go and take the responsibility.
But what makes her different from others is her concern about one of our chronic patients. We have 1 patient here who has been with us for more than a year now, everybody loves this patient. But there is one person who I really appreciated most because of her exceptional care. This patient was very ill when admitted to our unit and now he is able to walk and interact with everybody. He is prepared for discharge maybe 2-3 months from now. Fawzia discussed with me her observation that the baby was frightened when brought outside the hospital for a CT scan. She suggested to me if we can ask permission from the consultant to allow this patient to go to the park inside the hospital at least once or twice a week (front of the blood bank). She was concerned that when this baby is discharged, he won't be able to adjust to an open area since he has been confined to the room/hospital for a very long time. This made me believe how dedicated, compassionate, responsible and professional she is as a nurse. She takes care of her patients like her own.
She is consistently good, well-mannered person. Her dedication to her work should be recognized and be one of the role models. There are so many good things about her.
For this, Ms. Fawzia earned my respect. I'm glad she is on our team and I am very proud of her. Thank you!
