Describe why this person is an extraordinary nurse: I started working with Faith at P/SL in 1992 when she worked in the PACU. She then took the Perioperative Course and was soon the OR service line coordinator for adult and pediatric cardiac surgery. She came to TCH in February 2007 and joined the CVOR team here. Faith is always taking on projects and looking for any opportunity to help her co-workers and physicians out. Faith always makes herself available to the Main OR when they need help as well as she will pick up OR call in addition to CVOR call. Faith always has a positive, “can do” attitude. Since she lives close to TCH, she is often called upon to respond to emergencies in the OR and CVOR even though she is not on call. Faith always comes in when asked. Faith has done 6 pediatric surgery medical missions to la Mascota, Managua Nicaragua in the past two years. Each time she has been responsible for contacting vendors and making all the arrangements for medical supplies and equipment for these missions. Faith has been asked to return many times as she has helped with their education and training in Nicaragua. Faith volunteers at Project Cure where she identifies what supplies are needed for the mission trips and makes all arrangements to get it their prior to their arrival for surgery. Faith is very active in her professional organization, AORN, where she has served on the BOD as secretary and currently Vice President, and she is the chairperson of several committees. Faith is a certified OR nurse (CNOR). Faith was promoted last August to Clinical Coordinator of the CVOR and was recognized by the surgeons as a person who would be a role model to staff and to ensure quality patient care. Faith is a confident, dependable, and caring nurse who deserves this recognition for all she has done both at TCH and abroad to promote pediatric healthcare.
