Evelyn Sua is being honored for the consistent, high standards of excellent nursing that she always demonstrates. She is compassionate in the care she gives to each of "her babies", bonding with both the baby and their family. One baby was born very young, small and very sick. Some nurses after weeks of caring for a very complicated, unstable baby burn out and need a break. Not Evelyn. She even took extra shifts to provide continuity of care. When he became stable and was nearing discharge home, she still cared for him and his family daily, through discharge.

Evelyn is well respected by the entire NICU team. We all know that she has our back when we work with her. I was caring for a very unstable cardiac baby with frequent IV site changes at one point. As I was about to set up for a new IV she came to my bedside with all the equipment for the IV start. She can also start IVs that no one else can.

I came to this unit as an experienced nurse but Evelyn has taught me a great deal these last 11 years.
