Not only was Evelin the utmost professional, but she was so genuinely friendly and warm. I could tell what a special interest she took in our son making us feel like we had very individualized care.
We are the parents of a ten-year-old boy with Cystic Fibrosis so regular hospital stays are a normal part of our family's life. Being in the hospital is always a very stressful situation as the days are long and tiring. With CF, our son can very easily pick up dangerous bacteria and his health is very fragile. We were fortunate enough to have Evelin as our day nurse for four of the days we were inpatient at CHOC in 2019. We were immediately impressed with how on top of his care she was. With CF, there are so many medications, breathing treatments, and specific routines that need to be adhered to for his day to run smoothly. Evelin immediately understood this and there was a flow to the day that really put us at ease as parents. She responded so quickly to any calls from the room and was extremely attentive to all of our son's needs. I feel like she made a real connection with our son, checking in on him often, ensuring he was comfortable, and always going above and beyond to make sure his needs were met.
Evelin frequently asked him how he was and remembered special details about his interests when interacting with him. Not only was she the utmost professional, but she was so genuinely friendly and warm. I could tell what a special interest she took in our son making us feel like we had very individualized care. Whenever our son had any special tests that needed to be done or we had very specific questions, she would get in contact right away with the necessary doctor or specialist to get our questions answered in a timely manner. She would then relay the information to us as soon as possible. Evelin was also very aware of how germ conscious we were in regard to our son's health. She made sure to take extra precautions such as honoring our request for having a sign put up for all staff and visitors to wear a mask and gloves before entering his room to enhance germ control during our weeklong stay at the hospital.
These all may seem like minute details, but all of these tiny details make a tremendous difference in how well our son felt during the hospital and making us feel more like we were at home during our stay. We have interacted with dozens of hospital staff over the years, and this has for sure been a remarkable experience having our son under her care! She has been a blessing to our family and I'm sure to so many others! Her servitude, organization skills, and genuine love and concern for our son were beyond exceptional and she did everything possible to make our son and us comfortable during our stay!
