We hear the words compassionate and caring often when patients, families or health care professionals are describing a nurse that they think is particularly good. We don’t often hear how that caring and compassion is demonstrated.
I have worked and trained many nurses in my 25 plus years of practice. I have had some that are only there for a paycheck and some that truly love what they do.

Eva has met a patient at a pharmacy so they don’t have to drive all the way to the Cancer Center to pick up a script. She assists with and participates in a Cancer Support group in her community. She has Co-Chaired the first ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event for Hendricks County and broke all the first event records for the Midwest. Because of this the American Cancer Society has chosen our Relay event for their CPS3 study site that will take place 5/2012 with Eva responsible as coordinator. She has championed teams for Relay for Life, Making Strides, Race for the Cure, Lymphoma Society, Suicide and Diabetes. She chairs and /or co-chairs the survivor event at Relay for Life and makes it special every year by adding her unique talents (Humor, scrapbooking, quilting and Music).

Taking care of cancer patients is not an eight hour, five days a week job for Eva. It is a lifetime commitment to making every cancer patient feel special and a daily walk with them to make their life a little easier.
