Esther Carpenter is the CV Surgery nurse coordinator for the Heart Institute. She has dedicated the majority of her nursing career (27 yrs) to caring for children with heart disease here at Children's Hospital and through those years has impacted hundreds of families. She is invaluable to the parents, surgeons, cardiologists, and nurses within the Heart Institute. Her hourly communication to the parents of children undergoing heart surgery not only keeps parents informed of what is going on in surgery but gives them peace of mind and helps keep their stress level down while promoting confidence in our team. She exemplifies TCH mission through her compassion with our families and strives for excellence within our program by promoting and supporting education, policies, and displaying a positive attitude. Esther is our liaison to the surgeons, cardiologists, and parents in which she collaborates details of the child's health care regimen and plan. She keeps everyone focused on the task at hand; the child first and always.
