"I love taking care of people! As the oldest of 5, taking care of others comes natural for me. My favorite thing about direct patient care is knowing that I've made a significantly positive and life-changing difference in the lives of those under my care. When I get that phone call from one of my veterans, 'Nurse Grace, you have made my day'; or 'Nurse Grace, I am no longer sick, homeless, depressed, upset'; or 'you've helped to lift my spirit'; that is the adrenaline rush that keeps me going and I honestly can't put to words the amount of joy and inner satisfaction I derive from that!"
- "Nurse Grace" Esohe Osaghae, MSN-CSM, RN-BC

Nurse Grace joined Atlanta VA Medical Center July 2004 as a medical-surgical staff nurse. She worked as a staff nurse/intermittent charge nurse and telephone advice nurse in outpatient mental health, ambulatory care, and most recently case manager with the HUD-VASH homeless program.
Recently she was able to reconnect a father (the Veteran) with his son whom he had not seen in over 18 years. This veteran submitted the nomination that resulted in Nurse Grace being selected as a DAISY Award honoree. She goes above and beyond her profession!
