Erlinda Magalong was nominated by a family member who wrote:
"I would like Erlinda Magalong to be honored with The DAISY Award. Almost 2 and 1/2 years ago my precious mom had to have emergency surgery, be in the ICU, and I had to make the most critical decision of my life -letting my precious mom go. I was pretty much alone in it because my sister couldn't be there. She just couldn't do it. Erlinda was the beautiful angel nurse who took care of my mom during my process of letting her go. She was there not only for my mom, she was there for me. She was my angel. She was my everything. She took care of my mom so lovingly and tenderly and with so much honor. She was my rock and my soft place to fall. Erlinda was strong, calm and gentle. When I first got there that morning she embraced me and said, "you're doing the right thing, you're doing the loving thing, it's going to happen to all of us". I know Erlinda was selected by God to be there for my mom and me because she did everything perfectly for both of us. She told me it was an honor for her to see the love between my mom and me. She kept asking me if there was anything she could do for me all through my process of letting mom go.
Erlinda was truly the Divine Selection of the perfect right nurse for us at this most precious, beautiful, honoring, yet enormously difficult time of my Mom's magnificent life. After my precious mom passed and her spirit went on to her next beautiful life experience, Erlinda had me get up in bed with my mom so I could be close to her and told me I could have as much time as I needed. She told me I would know when I was ready to get up. All through this magnificent yet heart wrenching experience Erlinda kept encouraging me to keep talking to my mom and say and do the things I would normally say and do. When my mom was about to let go she told me to keep talking to her, she said "her spirit is swirling around", and then my mom took her last breaths and went on to her next life. I always wanted to go back and thank Erlinda and hug her and show her my love and appreciation to her for my mom and me, for giving us the love, honor and tenderness she did so naturally and effortlessly. She was truly and is truly an angel to my mom and me and we will forever be grateful for her powerful, strong, yet soft and gentle, love she gave to both of us at this precious, yet heartbreaking and monumental time in our lives. We love you will all our hearts and souls."
