Erika climbed under the bathroom stall door to get in, opened it so the tech could get in and the 2 of them positioned the patient and Erika began giving chest compressions.
One night Erika Cardiel-Guevara and one of the techs were coming back from a break and when crossing through the lobby a little girl came to them and said someone fell in the women's bathroom.
Instead of Erika directing the girl and father to the information desk a few feet away, Erika went to see if she could help. Erika and the tech entered the women's bathroom in the lobby and could see a female laying in one of the bathroom stalls with drug paraphernalia lying beside her. Erika felt for a pulse and there was not one; she ran out of the bathroom to the information desk and asked for a code to be called. Erika climbed under the bathroom stall door to get in, opened it so the tech could get in and the 2 of them positioned the patient and Erika began giving chest compressions. They heard the code overhead and realized it had said men's bathroom instead of women. Erika had the tech stand at the bathroom door to direct the emergency team to the correct place to avoid any wasted seconds. During chest compressions the patient became responsive and at that time the emergency team arrived and took over the code. This female was revived by Erika and is now in the hospital from a cardiac arrest. Because of Erika's actions, quick response, and leadership this person is alive. I am very proud of Erika and believe she is a DAISY Nurse for her courage and actions on that night.
