A nurse who strives for excellence in the care she gives to her patients and as a team player. Recently, she spent a lot of time working with pharmacy in hopes to deliver patient care in a timely manner. If a patient was ordered Motrin, it would take at least 30 minutes if not more for that medication to arrive to the unit, causing our patients to wait longer for pain medication. For those who are newly diagnosed with diabetes stay to receive 3 days of education on their disease and how to manage their diabetes outside CHP. The educators stress the importance of when to take insulin. The resident places an insulin order in Cerner and the rest of us including the families would wait for pharmacy to send the insulin to the floor. Therefore, cold meals waited on the floor or families struggle to keep their toddler awake for the bedtime insulin that was never given until after 10:00 pm. Due to this nurses dedicated and continued efforts to deliver patient care in a more timely manner, this unit now has Motrin and insulin readily available in the pyxis system.
