I was pushing a patient (in his bed) back to the ICU after performing a CT scan. The patient commented on the sun being out as we passed the small outdoor area between our 2 departments. When we arrived back in his room the family asked how it had gone. I told them he did great and almost got to see a little sunshine. Eric was walking back in the room as the conversation was taking place. He asked the man if he wanted to see the sunshine. The patient responded yes! Eric told him he would take him to see that sunshine. He turned the bed around and pushed it right back out the door. The man was smiling from ear to ear as Eric pushed his ICU bed out the door and towards the window. Eric is a great example of the main component of being a great healthcare provider - compassion!
