My fiancé was seen at The Reading Hospital Wound Center to treat his diabetic foot ulcers. I was able to file a motion and get a medical furlough granted so that he could be released in order for him to seek appropriate and competent medical care. We arrived at the wound center filled with concerns, questions and in need of medical help for him. Emilee Bartolo was our nurse and she was absolutely amazing. She took such good care of my fiancé. We came to her in a desperate time of need with so many concerns, issues and questions. She took the time to listen. She addressed every single one of our concerns, she made us both feel heard, she did not judge and as a result, she gained our trust. Emilee delivered exceptional care and we couldn't be any more grateful. She demonstrated patience, compassion, intelligence, devotion, and advocacy for him. She advocated his medical needs and restrictions medical division so that his transition back to the institution can be seamless. As a student nurse, I strive to be as good as she is and exhibit all of those traits. Like Nightingale's lamp, she shined a light where there was darkness. He and I are so grateful from the bottom of our hearts for her shining a little bit of light during this difficult time for him. We want to say thank you for the skillful and compassionate care she delivered to him. She has made a difference we will never forget.
