This is probably the most beautiful email I have received from one of the nurses. It concerns a young woman with advanced MS whom I have followed for a long time. It warms my heart to think that there is someone in the next generation of nursing like this. I would want her to take care of me. Ela is a true DAISY Nurse.
Email is as follows:
I just saw her Christmas Eve and she was so anxious to know how her wounds were. She literally asked me five times how the wounds are. I couldn't give her a straight answer because I felt so terrible to put her spirit down right before the holidays, so I was very vague describing what is going on. The truth is we are not making progress and since her last UTI I can only see them deteriorating. I told her it may take months and I don't have answers to her questions. We move forward one step and then back a step. I see she is very comfortable with me. I stay at least an hour with her each time I visit. I plan my visits so I don't have to rush with her and I can spend enough time with her to make sure she is comfortable. I try to encourage her but I never say anything to give her false hope. So if she needs to know the truth about the wounds, I would talk to her after the holidays.
