Nurse Maddaus provided me with extraordinary care. I have been hospitalized countless times during my life, but I can truly say she is the best nurse I have ever encountered. I am currently being hospitalized for pancreatitis and am, therefore, in a lot of pain due to that and three fractured vertebrae.

To start off, she had an amazing attitude and warmth. And, even though she was running around from patient to patient due to how busy the floor was, she checked in on me numerous times without my having to ask. Whether it was getting me extra pillows, a warm blanket, or ice chips, she did it all with a constant smile on her face.

For all the pain I was in, she couldn't have made me more comfortable and cared for in any possible way. In addition, she was extremely knowledgeable about any question I had and fully and clearly explained to me every medication I was being administered or procedure planned.

When I did have a request for something, she perfomed it immediately; and, whenever she entered or left my room she never failed to ask if I needed anything or had any questions.

Therefore, I am nominating Ellett for the DAISY Award because I've never had a nurse who cared for me so attentively. And, most importantly, I think she should receive this award because of her dedication to patient advocacy and her genuine passion to patient care.
