I have been a patient here for the last 3 days after having surgery. It has been a very challenging experience for me and there were moments when I was very scared and unsure of what was going on.
One night my blood pressure was dangerously low and I was anxious and scared. Ella was so calm and reassuring even when they had to put me in an upside down position which was very uncomfortable. She kept holding my hand and told me over and over “you are going to be fine, you have a good outlook on life, you have a great physician and I am going to do everything I can to help you.”
During a transfusion my vein went bad so I was anxious about them not being able to find another vein to finish the blood that I needed. Ella was so positive, she said “I am a really good IV starter, but I’m going to get the best” and she called another nurse. I asked her to pray with me and she did. They were able to get another IV in and I was able to finish the blood.
I have had many nurses over the years and she is the very best that I have ever had. She never hesitated to give me a hug, or a smile, or hold my hand, or whatever I needed. Her heart is so good.
I am having surgery again in a few months and have asked to have Ella as my nurse again. The DAISY Award is exactly what Ella deserves and I am happy to nominate her.
