I am writing this letter in behalf of my father. I know that my father is very difficult to treat because of his temper. It is hard to understand someone who has lost part of his stomach and kidney. However, Elka was the vivid example of caring, patience, and compassion, which we did not expect to find anywhere. Elka explained every single detail to him. He had a tube in his nose and stomach. She also explained the medications my father was taking and when they were next to be given. She would do her rounds as she would promise. She would do the nursing assistants' duties as well. She would empty the urinal every time she would come in and not wait until the end of shift. When my father would request a pillow or blanket, she would get it herself and not ask the assistant. Elka would answer her phone right away. I really can say my father was in wonderful hands when Elka was his nurse. I would go home and feel my father was going to be well taken care of. I can go on and on about Elka's performance, but this letter would never end. Once again, thank you Elka for being such a wonderful NURSE. You will always be in our prayers.
