It's impossible to summarize in a few words what kind of nurse Liz is. Her compassion for others goes far beyond being a nurse. She is so genuine, supportive, thoughtful, hardworking, and dedicated. Liz is a born leader. No matter how challenging a case, family, or day, Liz is always there. She's the first to help, and the last to leave.
There was a family who had negative experiences in healthcare, with a distrust for people who did not look like them or understand their culture. Liz rounded on them, and listened to them, and was truly attentive to their needs. Liz reassured the family that their experience in NCCU would be the very best. A family member was one that if you did not look like them, you could not go within 10 feet, or you would have to pray before entering the room. Liz built such a place of warmth and safety, that the family hugged her and thanked her for listening.
A mom was visiting her son in NCCU and began choking. Liz performed the Heimlich Maneuver, and the family thanked her for saving their mom. Her compassion and service to others are immeasurable.
