My sister was admitted for severe abdominal pain and dehydration. Shortly after a diagnostic MRI, C went into cardiac arrest. For 2 hours our family agonized waiting to see her. Finally, we were able to see her in SICU. As a retired and former ICU nurse I wanted to express on behalf of our entire family our gratitude to the nurses and doctors who carefully and expertly cared for C. What was most memorable was how quickly she declined but the nurses and doctors worked so well to provide the very best possible care for her and our family. We were devastated with primarily how gravely ill she was, but no one could give us a diagnosis. After her cardiac arrest her kidneys began to fail, she was intubated, had three B/P support IVs and was very unstable. Soon she had symptoms of multiorgan failure. For the next three days, we watched the expert and kind care of devoted nurses tenderly provide comfort to our dying sister. The nurses and doctor made her death and our loss just a little easier. I cannot adequately express the enormous difference that Lynn, Elizabeth, and Amit made in our lives in dealing with and accepting her eventual death. It was only after I received the final autopsy report, did we finally know that C had uterine cancer that metastasized virtually throughout her body.
Despite not knowing why they worked skillfully and caringly for C and our family. Thank you to these wonderful nurses, for the work they do every day. They never quite giving their very best.
