Elizabeth was one of many fantastic nurses my husband had after his very complicated liver surgery for stage 4 colon cancer. My husband had a hiccup during his recovery and returned to SICU, unfortunately. He was feeling pretty blue with his NG tube back in. The first day that Elizabeth took care of him, she was not only very caring with him, but she suggested a chaplain for both of us to talk to.
Today, I talked to her a bit about the cancers he's had and tough road to have all around and being upset about tube being in. Anyway, she got permission to take him outside for fresh air. He was outside for 5 minutes or so, but it did more for him than anything. My husband is a County Forest Administrator, hunter, fisherman, and is on Sawyer County Search and Rescue. He loves the outdoors.
Medicine and healing are more than just heart rates and IV's, and Elizabeth proved that today. My husband happened to be transferred back to a regular hospital room today, our children were here, and she let them "assist" by having our son lead the way and our daughter help with the IV pole.
Elizabeth is a fantastic nurse. She is caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. Thank you, Elizabeth, you rock!
