While visiting the ER recently I was very pleased with the attitude, countenance, and professionalism of Elizabeth Champlain, RN.

Not only did she listen and acknowledge my son's needs but when a little girl came in who was in pain from a burn, she talked sweetly, explained what they were going to do and how it works before doing it, answered the little girls questions and calmed her down.

She politely gave adequate time to each patient who checked in. After imputing information, I witnessed her checking and asking each individual sitting or standing if they had been helped. I think that makes others feel like they have not been forgotten. She never talked down or past an individual.

Reading through the criteria in the DAISY Award pamphlet it says "collaborates well with all members of the healthcare team". Since this was the July 4th holiday, I am not sure if there was enough staff on site but when a pregnant lady was in labor, she called up to L&D to request an escort and waited for the lady's children to come out of the bathroom so they could take the mother right up.

I was at ease to know or feel like I was not wasting their time by being in the ER that day.
