Elisabeth transferred to 4S three years ago after working for two years on 8 North at UWMC. Nursing at that point was a second career for her. She worked very hard for her first two years to learn the patient populations for med/surg, short stay, infusion, and procedure.
Elisabeth's patients recognize her every day for her kindness and care. You can really tell these wonderful qualities were fine-tuned during her time working in Rehab nursing. Elisabeth is an excellent listener for both her patients and also new RNs she is orienting.
The patient and family are at the center of Elisabeth's work. Frequently, when leaders round on Elisabeth's patients they have such praise for her attention to detail, plan of care, patience, and going above and beyond.
Over the past year, Elisabeth has taken on the role of preceptor. She is a role model for professional communication with our physician colleagues as well as patients and fellow staff. She seeks out ways to partner and improve care of patients with the interdisciplinary team. Elisabeth often cares for some of our most challenging patients and "charms them into happy campers." Elisabeth exemplifies the skill, caring and compassion that the DAISY Award represents.
