A patient's father wrote this about Elena: "Just when the pain was most unbearable we were visited by Elena. Elena walked into the waiting room and explained that she was part of the team from Lankenau that had come to perform the ECMO procedure and how the procedure that our daughter was going through could possibly work. Meeting with Elena was as if an angel had just visited us and we felt the strength, confidence and caring that Elena had just brought to us was a gift from God and that our daughter would be alright. Our angel (Elena) had bought a positive feeling into this time of despair and with it also came hope and faith, which until this time was being overwhelmed by grief and despair. Elena's message of hope immediately began to grow within all of the family members and I truly believe God placed Elena on this earth for this very moment. As the hours and days passed, there were numerous occasions when my daughter experienced setbacks. Each time we felt the message of hope and faith that Elena brought to us was our best way to help her through. We all continued positive thoughts and prayers and never doubted that the entire Lankenau team would not allow anything bad happen to our daughter. I don't believe their are enough words to describe our thanks.
