The ED/ICC/WH&FBC/Periop Team was pivotal in providing care for a six-week, premature infant, who was sent to the ED by his pediatrician for cough, fever, and poor feeding. From the first signs of retractions and trouble breathing to noted signs of apnea that would eventually worsen, requiring ventilation, many associates from multiple departments provided their expertise. Collaborative efforts continued for more than three hours to stabilize the baby, who had become bradycardic and required frequent resuscitation and intubation, before being transported to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital's NICU.
