Edelyn help to care for my mom while she was in the ICU recently for 3 days. Very sadly my mom did not survive but the unprecedented efforts that the nurses and doctors went to, to try and save her (such as performing a surgical procedure in her ICU room) were something we will be eternally grateful for. Edelyn told us she was fairly new to the ICU and was transferring from the Step-Down unit so she was assisting with the nursing care of my mom. Edelyn was kind patient and gentle and we were very grateful to have her helping with the care of my mom. She was so respectful to my dad and to our whole family as we held vigil at my mom's bedside for the 3 days we were there. She helped my dad remove my mom's wedding ring as her hands started to swell, she explained everything she was doing and she was very patient and caring in her nature. cWe are forever grateful for the way my mom was treated during her time in the ICU and wholeheartedly nominate Edelyn for the DAISY Award for her efforts. Thank you Edelyn.

Edelyn was taking care of my mom during her the last day of her life and was took care of her medical needs with care compassion and grace. She mentioned that she had recently moved from another department to ICU but you'd never know it by watching her. For Edelyn adjusting the different IVs was a continual balancing act as my mom's blood pressure would dip then rise depending on which IV drip was increased or decreased. Though Edelyn had to focus her attention on IV control pads monitors and vital checks she answered our continual questions and kept us abreast of what was happening every step of the way. And she did so with a real sense of empathy and comfort. We knew she was doing everything she could to give my mom the best possible chance of turning the corner. Alas, the massive blood loss and compartment syndrome that compromised her other organs were too much for my mom to overcome. Edelyn's primary job was to care for my mom. But along the way she cared for the entire family too. She was a shining star for all of us.
