If we can't be with our son all day every day, we can only hope and pray that he is surrounded by nurses such as Ebony.
My son's birth did not go as planned. What started as a planned C-section turned emergency rather quickly and I almost lost them both. Because of COVID, I have not been able to attend a single doctor's appointment, see a single ultrasound and at the last minute, the birth was taken away from me. I was truly devastated. Then to top it off, my son ended up in the NICU because he was not able to properly breathe on his own. Going up to the NICU several times a day, seeing my son lying there helpless, breaks my heart as a father. Mom and I go up there several times a day and have met several different nurses caring for our child and Ebony has been, in a word...FANTASTIC.
I have been asking a million and one questions, many of them several times. Asking what she's doing and why is she doing it? Bugging her non-stop as a frantic parent. She has answered every single question, even the repeats with a smile. She has such a calming presence and always smiling with a kind and polite presence. She is so great and gentle with our son. If we can't be with our son all day every day, we can only hope and pray that he is surrounded by nurses such as Ebony.
Thank you for taking care of our boy.
Side note: every time I am in the room, no matter what happens, Ebony is always calm, collected, and composed which goes a long way with distraught parents. She is a perfect example of what a NICU Nurse should be.
