Doris McNally is the clinical outpatient manager and provides leadership to the infusion center and nursing to our outpatient care locations. Doris was on the first floor of the hospital's Outpatient Care Center (OCC) on her way to work one morning last week and noticed an elderly lady looking at the directory who seemed confused. Several employees passed by the woman and got on the elevator. Doris stopped to ask her if she needed help. Apparently, the woman was supposed to be having outpatient surgery over at Bayfront that morning. Doris explained that she was not in the right place. The woman's son had already parked the car in the OCC parking garage. The son was going to go get the car and come back to pick up his mom, but Doris could tell she was anxious about finding the right place, especially because she was already late. Doris offered to walk the lady over to Bayfront while the son went to get the car and move it to the Bayfront garage. Doris walked with the lady all the way to the outpatient surgery center and made sure she got where she needed to be. Not only did Doris take the time to notice that the lady looked like she needed help, but she went above and beyond to help. She could have easily given the lady and her son directions and gone on to work, but she showed that at All Children's we care about ALL people.

Doris has worked at All Children's for more than 25 years the second time around, as she likes to say. What keeps her here is the same thing that brought her back, her singular focus on putting all patients first. There are numerous examples where she has gone outside of her usual day to day responsibilities to serve a patient, family, employee or lost Bayfront patient. She walks the talk and holds her team accountable to the same expectation, instilling values that will leave a lasting impact on many patients well into the future. It is an honor to work with and learn from Doris on a daily basis.
Thank you, Doris, for your compassionate care.
