Donna was coming in to work one morning and stopped at the coffee cart before heading up to the Internal Medicine/Oncology unit. While she was there, she heard a "Code Blue" and realized that she was the only RN around. She responded and ended up delivering a baby!
Donna sprang into action and instinctively cut the mom's pants off to literally catch the baby (mom and baby both did well). I'm so proud that she was able to immediately respond to the situation and assist in such an amazing experience. What Donna did that day was incredible and many nurses outside of Women's Services tend to stay in our own areas and defer going to that tower since it is nowhere in our wheelhouse. Donna exemplified "The Lutheran Way" and is a true DAISY Nurse.
