Donna Dichirico recently went above and beyond helping a family that was in a very difficult and trying situation. She showed the best part of being a nurse and was so helpful and amazing to the family. The family trusted our honoree completely and appreciated how she was able to connect the mom with her baby when they could not be together. Unfortunately, the baby's mom had to be admitted to an LA hospital while her baby was being treated in our NICU. Donna figured out how they could use the "tango" app on their phones so that the mom could "skype" from her LA Hospital room. She was able to keep the Mother/Baby bond going. The family was able to continue to visit and stay connected due to Donna's diligence. She so deserves this award for not only this, but so much more.
Donna also helped make a diary for the mom with photos of the baby and information concerning the baby's day and how much he gained. She personally went to visit the mom at the LA hospital and took the book to share with her. She also made a donations box and collected donations for the family. Donna is truly an angel in disguise!!

Donna is always available as a mentor to her colleagues while at work and in her own personal time. With a smile and her lighthearted optimism, she consistently advocates for her patients and her fellow nurses. Whether a premature neonate in the NICU, or a nurse new to Los Robles Hospital, she is passionate about setting others up for success.
She is always smiling and finding creative ways to make things happen. She has this ability to always make Lemonade out of Lemons, no matter what challenges she is presented with.
She not only makes a difference in her family's life, but she also makes a huge difference to the patients she cares for and the employees she works with. She is a large reason why I continue to drive 50 miles each way to work; because I am honored to say I work with her.

All of us at the March of Dimes Greater L.A. Division are so very proud of her. The love, respect, and gratitude so many of her colleagues and NICU families feel for her is inspiring and is a testament to her incredible efforts throughout her career. I am so proud of her for taking it to the next step to make sure her patient received the care she needed.
