Recently my husband required open-heart surgery at Wesley Hospital due to a congenital heart defect. I feel compelled to write this letter of commendation to the doctors and staff who provided care and compassion during a difficult time for our family. I want to recognize one special nurse in the surgical intensive care unit.
During our six-day experience in ICU, we were lucky enough to have Dianne Cork as our nurse for three of those crucial days. She obviously cares about her patients and deserves to be rewarded for her professionalism. We quickly bonded with our lovely, friendly nurse. It is difficult for those of us without medical training to understand the process of heart surgery, but Dianne answered every question and concern in a timely and compassionate manner. She was by far the sweetest and most devoted nurse, providing wonderful care and comfort. She is an amazing health care provider who has definitely found her career calling in life.
Nurses nurture and inspire because their excellence involves doing a job well and displaying kindness, honesty and courage. I felt more comfortable leaving the hospital to return to my motel each night, knowing my husband was in her superb medical care. She was truly an angel in disguise (we called her our Florence Nightingale).
