The nurses on 4 Center would like to nominate Diana Crabb for a DAISY Award. Diana is retiring in May 2016 and has impacted many of our personal careers in such a positive way that we wanted to nominate her. Diana shines as a leader. Not only is Diana a Patient Care Leader on 4 Center Med-Surg Oncology, but she is also an Oncology certified RN, and she leads us all by her example. Diana is compassionate not only for her patients, but also for her coworkers. Diana comes to work every day with a positive attitude that influences the rest of the staff on 4 Center.
With her experience she has become a role model that many nurses on the unit turn to her for advice in many situations involving patients; and if she does not have the answer, she is always there to help you find it. During her time at Good Shepherd Hospital on 4 Center, Diana has streamlined the Chemotherapy Administration Process between impatient and outpatient units, compiling a Chemotherapy Reference Binder in association with this project, developing a Central Venous Catheter Reference Binder for our unit, and an evidence based project to educate and improve the care of Oncology patients with Oral Mucositis.
Apart from all of that, Diana is able to multi task effortlessly. She not only is a PCL, but most days will have an assignment of her own. She is able to manage the unit, her coworkers, and can still give exceptional care to the patients under her direct care. She also collaborates with physicians, ensures nurse/physician rounding, and collaborates with bed board and the nursing supervisor and with the concierge of the unit.
Diana will sincerely be missed; she is a crucial member to our team. However, from all she has taught and instilled in us we are sure to shine! We love you Diana!
