Dexter is currently planning a collaboration with chaplain services, volunteer services, and integrative services to develop Friday “tea-time” for the MALS patients.
One of the first nurses I met when I was admitted to the hospital was Dexter. Then, I thought, this is going to be a nice journey! Dexter is a compassionate person who really cares for my wellbeing. He was there when I needed him, he was gentle, understanding, knowledgeable, patient and very professional. The dynamic and atmosphere that resides on this floor with its staff members are exemplary and that is something admirable!

I would like to take the time to thank Dexter for being extraordinary - for his commitment to providing each patient outstanding care, for his heavy involvement in improving quality on the unit, for his dedication to professional development, and for his vigorous compassion as a nurse. I am always in awe and inspired by his work ethic his compassion. A recent event that has motivated me even more to submit this nomination is his devotion to helping support the MALS patient and change the staff's perception of the MALS patient. These patients need a tremendous amount of emotional support. He is currently planning a collaboration with chaplain services, volunteer services, and integrative services to develop Friday "tea-time" for the MALS patients. The objective of this support group is to allow the MALS patients to interact with each other as well as the staff where they feel supported. Dexter is hopeful that this will also help change the current perception by staff of this patient population.

Dexter was on top of all my needs. He kept me comfortable and relaxed during an otherwise stressful time.

Dexter was my intake and discharge nurse. I am beyond blessed to have the experience of being in his care during the worst of my illness. He patiently explained the whole process and it helped to ease my worries especially since I have never been admitted to a hospital other than when I gave birth. During the discharge process, I appreciate his thoughtfulness in making recommendations for primary care doctors that would have the background in infectious diseases that I need at this time. Overall, I was so impressed with his deep knowledge and ability to explain the medications that I was receiving and why I needed them. I felt that I was truly receiving the best level of care I could possibly have. All the nurses who took care of me were very compassionate and caring especially during this very sensitive time for me. This experience has left me with an extremely positive impression of this hospital, and I will recommend the level of care that I received here to anyone. What an asset to our community here in Stamford!
