Deborah and I were in tears within 5 minutes of me introducing myself. We ended up in ICU with my mom. Mom was an ALS patient. My first question was, "I'm confused about the stuff that went on with my mom". From that very second she helped me along the way. Her husband had this disease and she knew exactly how to handle everything while we were there. She told the doctors things that helped. She came to visit me on her days off. She made my mom, who was suffering with every breath, feel OK. She made her feel calm, and that we will be OK. She will be in my life forever. My stay was amazing considering the circumstances.
I could honestly go on and on about Deborah. She has the kindest heart, she's compassionate, loving and so willing to give her free time to visit. She's truly an angel. She deserves the DAISY Award. She will be a friend of mine for life. I just had to keep writing about her. And the staff, again, the best. Every step along the journey was amazing. My bed was made, nurses brought me tea and I just felt relief that mom was in the best place we could be.
