Having been a patient in Cardiac Rehab for the past ten weeks, I have spent many hours exercising with the other patients and observing the staff in Cardiac Rehab at Miami Valley Hospital. All the nurses and exercise physiologists are great. Patients work with most all the staff at one time or another depending on their schedules. Staff have been knowledgeable, caring and supportive. They certainly know their stuff and work hard to have good outcomes for their patients.

There is one nurse I have worked with and observed interacting with other patients who is quite extraordinary. Deb Gross is truly one-in-a-million. She brings years of experience to the program in addition to a very calm demeanor. Her confidence and knowledge are reassuring to cardiac patients who are in a very uneasy situation of working to restore their health. Deb has a very spiritual, healthy lifestyle that she shares appropriately. Hearing about her love of exercise, Yoga and healthy eating, motivates patients to apply good habits to their lives.

Deb always has a kind word and welcoming smile for us. She takes time to listen to patients and get to the real issues concerning them. She offers good advice and pursues answers from a physician when needed. She is a dependable team member and is often consulted by other staff members when they have questions. She is diligent in keeping the exercise area in good condition. She calls maintenance to make repairs and improvements, always keeping an eye on the safety of the patients.

Deb is terrific in her role and has the heart (no pun intended) for cardiac patients. She is a blessing to us all and very deserving of the DAISY Award.
