Dawn was a very compassionate daytime nurse. She was very soft spoken and sweet to my brother-in-law S during the long duration stay of 68 days in the BMT unit. She was in tune with everyone's emotions and feelings. Dawn was present the day when my sister got the news that her husband wouldn't survive the GUH disease. Dawn wrapped her arms around her that day and you could truly see and feel her true compassion and love for being a nurse. On the last day S was there, when he passed away, on her last shift of working she came in to check on us and give her condolences. She shed a few tears with us and that truly touched my heart.

Dawn is a very special lady and I wish to nominate her due to her excellent care that she provided for my dad. After my dad had his bone marrow transplant and was admitted to BMT unit, she provided excellent care and great beside manor to my dad and for my mom. My mom was with my dad 10-12 hours a day the entire 68 days he was there. She explained a lot to me when I was there visiting and to my mom also. Very friendly, courteous, and always had a smile on her face. Even when she was working with other patients and not on my dad's shift, she would always check in on him and my mom. I felt that she went above and beyond her duties to provide care and comfort to my dad on the good days and even on the bad days before he passed away.
