Dawn is an exceptional nurse who demonstrates her calm, compassion, professionalism, and flexibility in care for all of her patients and their families in SPR. However, one day stands out more than others. On this day she has several complicated patients among the many she care for that day. First, she cared for an adolescent patient who had a complex family dynamic, she treated everyone with great care and respect, keeping a volatile situation under control. She was then assigned a special needs patient with severe developmental disabilities, despite being spit at twice, she never complained, and made the mother feel at ease and contented with her care of them in a very professional manner.
At the end of her shift that day she cared for a patient who was unstable and needed an endoscopy procedure. In her care, the patient's condition changed and she became less and less responsive, she called an RRT and provided the patient with very competent nursing care until she was more responsive and taken back to her inpatient unit. While this was an unusually complicated set patients, Dawn cares for all of her patients in a very compassionate and competent manner for which her patients and peers admire her. She is a special nurse and makes a difference in the lives of her patients and their families.
