A family member called and gave high praise for the "excellent and compassionate care" that David Vasquez gave his grandfather, while in ICU. The son stated that David was also very compassionate and patient with his grandmother during this difficult time. Unfortunately, the patient passed away, but he wanted me to make sure and tell our leadership "what outstanding people we have on staff." He shared a story how his grandfather, while stationed in France during WWII, met and fell in love with his grandmother. He said that his grandfather only spoke English and his grandmother only spoke French when they first met but over time they learned to communicate. He said that his grandmother rarely got the opportunity to speak French since none of the kids or grandkids ever learned it, and she was only able to speak her beloved language whenever she would call family in France. One special moment happened when David noticed that she was having a difficult time filling out some paperwork. He noticed her name was of French origin and asked if she spoke French. David is fluent in French and communicated with her in French from that moment on. The family member said this gave his grandmother special comfort and made her so happy.
