A recent patient letter shared this wonderful story with us:

On the afternoon of December 8th I was in the Piedmont Newnan Hospital Emergency Room being treated for A-Fib. I was shocked from 5 times to get my heart beating. During this time, I recall seeing my friend who was wearing a red coat for she is a volunteer worker at the hospital. She was holding my left foot and praying for me.

I also remember David coming to my left ear with words of encouragement and telling me he would help me. I do not remember much after that but was told that they got my heart beating again and I was transferred to Piedmont Atlanta Hospital by ambulance. I spent over three weeks in Piedmont Atlanta and received Ablation surgery, a Pacemaker and Defibrillator. I also got sick with Pneumonia and one of my lungs collapsed while in the hospital. I am out now and recovering at my home.

I don't know how to come up with the proper words to express to David my thanks for saving my life but want him to know how grateful my family members are. God bless him and know how much he is needed to help others. My family members consist of my wife of 58 years, our two sons and one daughter, our 8 grandchildren and our two great grandchildren. They all send you their heartfelt thanks! May the Lord bless you.

Another patient's family commented:

David has especially shown a commitment to care for our father and went above and beyond, even taking the time to shave our dad's scruffy beard! It means so much to our family to have such amazing care for our father.

...

And another comment:

I would like you to know what a great nurse David is on the 5th floor. Even his co-workers say that he is the best and how good he is at his job - now that says a lot! He explains everything in full detail and is very kind.

...

David is a shining example of what a DAISY Nurse is! Even down to the DAISY presentation ceremony when he stated he couldn't take all the credit because it took the entire team to do the job, which is very true, but this moment is to recognize you, David, and to say thank you!
