I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to David for taking such good care of my mother with her leukemia and pneumonia while she was on the 3rd floor Critical Care B unit. It was a difficult time for all of us, but it put my mind at rest knowing that she was in such capable and professional hands.
I'm not going to lie; I was a little nervous that David was new at his job. But after seeing David in action the first day I knew we couldn't have had a more compassionate nurse. He was kind and considerate to my mom. Mom was 80 and had never been in the hospital before. It was truly a scary time for her. I'm sure you understand how stressful it can be for families in such a difficult situation. However, David's calm and helpful manner put us at ease and we could go home at night knowing that Mom was in safe hands. It was David who brought her water to sip for the first time. It was David who held her hand and told her "I'm here to help you". It was David who cared.
My mom and her family received such wonderful care, and most of all, respectful and compassionate care during Mom's stay. Every day nurses go to work and deal with the good, bad, and the ugly. David did it in a way that only he could.
Thank you David for doing what you do because without you the hospital would feel empty. Mom said, "I'll never forget David". Mom passed away on her birthday… she made it to 81 years old. What a special place Winchester Medical Center is and what a special person David is!
