... I entered North Fulton Hospital for back surgery. Having never been in a hospital before, this was a terrifying time for me. From the time I went in for Pre-Op visit to the day I left the hospital four days later, I could not have received better care from the kindest and most professional staff anywhere in the world. I was treated with respect, kindness and a genuine sense of caring with that dash of humor that made it comfortable for me.

I was on the surgical floor and the day that Darshika Patel came into my room to check on me and bring my meds she brought with her a kindness and genuine sense of caring that was unsurpassed. She came in with a smile, was always concerned with how I was eating and often ordered grits for me because she knew I would eat those. She would remind me to hit the button for pain meds, she would say "That is what it's for, use it, you should not feel any pain". She was very professional in her duties. Darshika saw that I was having some problems with some of my medications, she switched shifts so that she would be there if I needed her. And I did. She always went beyond the call of duty. She is a great nurse and she genuinely cares about her patients.

I was fortunate that my brother stayed with me every night and my sister and my best friends were there every day. To this day, when we talk about my surgery and my stay in the hospital, Darshika's name brings a smile to everyone. My family, friends and I knew that I was in the right hospital, had the best surgeons and the very best nurse.

Thank you for this wonderful young lady, this super nurse, and for the work that she does. Darshika Patel is truly a Shining Star.
