...I recently spent about 9 days in the hospital due to problems that occurred after an appendectomy. This was the first time that I had spent any time in a hospital and I wasn't looking forward to it. The 9 days occurred in 2 different visits. I spent about 3 days in the hospital and about a week and a half later was readmitted for additional problems. During my 2 visits, the thing that made it bearable was the nursing care that I received. I have nothing but good things to say about the nurses and nurse's aides that attended to me.

One individual stood out; Danielle Walz was not only very professional, but showed she is a very caring and compassionate individual. She was able to lighten my stay with her infectious smile and easy-to-talk to manner. Whenever I needed something she was usually right there to make sure I was comfortable. Whenever I had questions, she took the time to answer my questions, if she didn't know the answer she would ask a doctor or the charge nurse. Sometimes I just need someone to talk to and I found she was very easy to talk to. I also could see that she was a team player ready to assist other nurses that needed assistance.

When it was time for us to leave after the last 6 day stay, we were very anxious to get home, Danni took the time and helped us pack up and made sure we understood what was on the discharge document and then put me in a wheelchair and personally took the time and wheeled me out to the exit. I know that when she reads this, she will probably be embarrassed and wonder what she did that was so special that we would recommend her for this recognition. I know she does what she does because she loves helping people. I think it is fitting that she be recognized not only by us but by her peers.
